The ‘Tongue Out’ collection takes traditional portraits, keeping their grand and formal aesthetic, and injects some fun by the simple use of poking the tongue out. Showing Sir John Borlase, General of the Ordnance and Governor of Ireland, sitting for a stern portrait, the sobriety of the background further emphasises the formalness, but seriousness is quickly diminished by the mischievous tongue.
